Fine artist jewellery inspired by Joanne’s passions. Pieces develop in small groups of work, often with representational themes, which stem from her sketching and watercolours during her time away from the workbench. These ‘vignette’ items are rather like framed artworks that focus on one moment or story, giving Joanne’s insight into a particular subject. They can be displayed as miniature objet d’art or worn as jewellery. Designs are influenced by her love of nature, landscape, history, literature, archaeology, ballet & music. Each piece that Joanne makes is unique and designs are not repeated.
The one-off jewels and ‘picture’ pieces are created by hand in precious materials – 18ct gold, platinum, palladium, silver and a wide variety of gemstones, including rare items and unusual cuts. The style of work is often distinctly organic with twisting and dramatic shapes as well as some timeless and classic items, using traditional hand-working techniques such as forging, piercing and repousse.
Joanne received a Jewellery BA Hons Degree at Central School of Art and Design in 1985, then opened her own retail premises in 1988. In addition, she has taken part in many exhibitions and fairs since then. After 33 years at these shop premises and with her work focused on more individual fine art pieces, in 2020 she moved to home workshops in England and Mallorca. Stock pieces are available from £500 to £20,000 with higher value bespoke pieces made to order. Joanne’s work is sold direct to clients at select design fairs and in October 2023 she is organising a new event of invited artisans of jewellery & silverware: ACQUIRE in Harrogate.
