Emily Nixon creates fine jewellery with a sea worn character, inspired by forms and textures found along the shore where she lives in West Cornwall. Following her training in Fine Art and Textiles and ten years as a gallery curator, she returned to her own creative process in 2002.
Over the past eighteen years her work has evolved an artfully irregular character, with a fluidity reminiscent of her sculptural background. Working first in wax, Emily moulds and forms each design, her beach finds the tools in her process. The resulting designs retain a luxuriously organic, hand hewn finish, cast in precious metals using the traditional lost-wax process.
The painterly selection of sapphires and tourmalines tangled into her seaweed rings add to the distinctive language of the coast that characterises her work. Emily creates fine jewellery that will become a part of who you are; to wear and love for a lifetime and beyond.
