Kate Seow is an artisanal fine jeweller based in the North East of England. She creates refined jewels from precious metals and gemstones using traditional goldsmithing techniques. Her inspiration is drawn from the inherent beauty of the gemstones she works with; their colour, shape and imperfections make them unique. Kate also explores composition through colour, shape and line – she is drawn to colour combinations and geometric arrays in the natural world, and through her creations, Kate endeavours to showcase Earth’s treasures to their fullest.
Kate takes her responsibility to both people and planet seriously, which is why she attempts to minimise harm by sourcing all her materials responsibly. The gemstones that take centre stage in her designs are exclusively sourced from small, trusted suppliers where the journey from mine to finished piece can be fully traced and assurances that are made about fair and safe working conditions can be relied on. Where suitable natural gemstones cannot be sourced, Kate will use synthetic stones from companies that adhere to strong social and environmental principles. Similarly, she uses precious metals including Single Mine Origin Gold, Fairmined Gold and ASM (artisanal small-scale mined) or recycled silver, where ethical and ecological best practices are at the forefront of their production.
