Clare Maiden

Clare Maiden creates fine and demi-fine jewellery from her studio in south-west Cornwall. Her work is shaped by the coastline that surrounds her — its weathered cliffs, shifting tides and stories layered through centuries of craft and trade. These elements often surface in pieces that explore resilience and the ways women navigate change, with the sea acting as a quiet metaphor throughout her collections.

Her Wave collection was selected for exhibition at the Goldsmiths’ Centre as part of Shine 2024 and received the Silver Award for Fine Commercial Jewellery Design at the GC&DC Awards in 2025.

Clare’s jewellery is recognised for its ease of wear and thoughtful detail. Her earlier career in advertising, marketing and communications sharpened her sense of how design connects with people and how a piece needs to function in everyday life. Her work is defined by fluid forms, subtle shifts in texture and the occasional flicker of a diamond, creating pieces that feel both contemporary and quietly refined. She works with a mix of hand-forging, wax carving and CAD, choosing the method that best serves the form.

Sustainability underpins her practice. Clare uses recycled precious metals, ethically sourced gemstones, and both lab-grown and Ocean Diamonds, alongside considered studio processes that reduce waste. She also welcomes commissions and the sensitive reimagining of heirloom jewellery, guiding clients through the process of giving cherished materials a new life.
