Alice Fry

Alice Fry is an award-winning jeweller and silversmith whose sculptural metalwork draws on the hidden beauty of geology. Specialising in the ancient hammering technique of ‘chasing and repoussé’, she shapes intricate metal surfaces that evoke crystalline forms, fissures and otherworldly textures.

Alongside working with silver, Alice is also one of the only UK makers specialising in niobium, a rare and futuristic metal capable of producing vibrant iridescent colour when anodised. Her combination of heritage silversmithing with contemporary material innovation has become a signature of her practice, allowing her to create pieces that feel both ancient and otherworldly.

Alice graduated from The Glasgow School of Art with a First in Silversmithing and Jewellery Design, and went on to train at the renowned Bishopsland Educational Trust. Her work has since been recognised with multiple Goldsmiths’ Craft & Design Council Awards and The Silver Society Prize. In 2025, Alice was named one of The King’s Foundation’s ’35 Under 35′ for her exceptional craftsmanship and passion for keeping heritage crafts alive.

Her pieces have been exhibited internationally, including the prestigious Goldsmiths’ Fair in London, Collect Art Fair, London Craft Week, The Scottish Gallery, and “MAD About Jewelry” show in New York. Her work is held in permanent collections across the UK and US, including The Sheffield Assay Office, The Neslon-Atkins Museum and The Spencer Museum.

Now based at The Sculpture Lounge in Holmfirth, on the edge of the Peak District, Alice works within a vibrant community of makers. Her mission is to keep traditional metalworking techniques alive by combining historic craftsmanship with contemporary design, creating objects intended to be treasured for generations.
